August 2024 Newsletter

Hello? Who's calling? [August 2024 Newsletter]

Another month comes to a close. For parents, it's back-to-school season. For sports fans, it's football season. For the cyber folks, it's recover-from-hacker-summer-camp season.

Now, let's look at this last month in the news. The U.S. presidential campaign continues to be a source of news but, this month, it made it's way to into our world after Iran hacked Trump's campaign. And if U.S. citizens wanted more to worry about, another National Public Data data broker is in hot water after publishing admin credentials. You'll recall that every Social Security number was revealed to have been stolen in April.
Meanwhile, a Kentucky man faked his own death to avoid paying child support. Fun stuff all around.

In this edition:
  1. “Help” Desk
  2. More 1337 skills in the house
  3. Local outings
As always, thank you for your support, your feedback, and your camaraderie!

Sometimes, the help desk is not so helpful. Just ask MGM. By design, the help desk has more access than most with more responsibility to help than most. In a new blog post, Ross Jaffe explores why the help desk can be a double-edged sword for organizations.
